Join authors Mélina Mangal and Chris Monroe as they present their new picture books, Jayden’s Secret Ingredient and Sasquatch & Squirrel! In Jayden’s Secret Ingredient, follow along as Jayden harvests new produce from his friend’s garden and learns the value of trying new things. In Sasquatch & Squirrel, find out whether a big, scary sasquatch and a little squirrel can actually become friends! Ages 4-10.
About the Authors
Working at the intersection of nature, literature, and culture, Mélina Mangal’s writing highlights youth whose voices are rarely heard, and the people and places that inspire them to explore their world. She is the author of short stories and biographies for youth, including The Vast Wonder of the World: Biologist Ernest Everett Just, winner of the Carter G. Woodson Book Award and named an NCSS/CBC Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People. Mélina also works as a school library teacher in Minnesota and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, whether it’s in her backyard or hiking in the woods
Chris Monroe is an award-winning author, illustrator, and cartoonist. Her picture books include Sneaky Sheep, Bug on a Bike, and the Monkey With a Tool Belt series, which inspired the Netflix show Chico Bon Bon: Monkey with a Tool Belt. Chris is also the author and illustrator of the comic strip Violet Days, which has been in print for more than 20 years. She lives in Duluth, Minnesota.
