Join Jenin Mohammed, illustrator of the new picture book Naming Ceremony, for a drop-in drawing activity that will get you excited about creating your own characters! With Jenin teaching you her illustration process, you’ll learn how to give baby Habiba a name you think fits her, much like the actual ceremony that takes place in the book.  Ages 4-10.

About the Author

Jenin Mohammed was born and raised in Miramar, Florida. She comes from African American and Caribbean ancestry. Thanks to her Christian/Muslim upbringing, she is on a never-ending quest to find halal versions of her favorite southern dishes. Mohammed’s interests include creating henna art, freestyle rapping (very badly), and pen-tapping off beat. She is the illustrator of Song in the City, All the Places We Call Home, and Super Mom.
