Kaveh Akbar

Saturday, October 16, 2021 • Fine Arts Center • 5:00pm

To cap off the festivities of the 2021 Twin Cities Book Festival’s in-person reunion, acclaimed poet Kaveh Akbar will give a reading from his new book of poetry, Pilgrim Bell (Graywolf Press). Akbar’s words, striving for the spiritual, will be the ultimate way to celebrate the rich experience of engaging with live literature. Please join us!

Perfect on the page, the voice and personality of each poem are thoroughly, itchingly alive, with an intimacy that, for all its naked self-revelation, feels bound to be engaged in the work of nations.

Grant Schatzman, World Literature Today

Kaveh Akbar is the author of two full-length poetry collections, Pilgrim Bell and Calling a Wolf a Wolf, and has received honors such as a Levis Reading Prize and multiple Pushcart Prizes. Born in Tehran, Iran, he teaches at Purdue University and in low-residency programs at Warren Wilson and Randolph Colleges.
